Same with youngest son’s house. 2x4 (and 6) construction. Only real difference I found was that they still used cheap finishes, whihc is easily addressed if you want. Drywall, etc., everything you would expect to see in a stick-built home. Only thing I’ve found that’s different is some of the wiring devices are different in that they are “enclosed” so that they didn’t have to use a separate box to install the devices in. No doubt a cost savings sort of thing.
When it comes to your first home, cost matters.
