[Mercedes] OT Pre-oiler?

Some of the most simple pre-lube systems are nothing more than a hydraulic accumulator with a solenoid valve.

When the engine is running, oil pressure pressurizes the accumulator, which uses nitrogen or some other inert gas in a sealed bladder, much like an MB suspension sphere.

When the engine shuts off the solenoid closes, trapping oil under pressure in the accumulator.

When the engine is started, the solenoid is energized and oil under pressure is returned to the lubrication system under pressure. There is typically an orifice or other means to limit pressure which can also extend the “run time”. A delay prevents the engine from cranking, either by oil pressure or a time delay relay.

There are also motor-driven systems as well, neither they’re more expensive and complex.

Looks like this would be a good product for everyone with a turbo, unless they are diligent about cool down before shut down.

Looks like the kit is just an electric fuel pump and a canister.

Seems to me you could put a fitting on/near the bottom of the oil pan, run a hose from it to a fuel pump, then from the pump to the oil galley of the engine. use a one minute timer for a switch. To start, hit the timer, wait 45 - 59 seconds, then start.

Not sure the canister is needed for what Fred wants to accomplish. No idea where the oil galley might be on water cooled flat.

Foot to the floor while cranking. The computer thinks you are trying to clear an engine flooded with fuel condition and will crank, but not start. It's a way of pressurizing the oil system after an oil change. Years ago some race car builders used to recommend an Accusump oil system. https://www.cantonracingproducts.com/accusump

I suppose for a Ford 5.4 with phaser issues it would help too.
