Foot to the floor while cranking. The computer thinks you are trying to clear an engine flooded with fuel condition and will crank, but not start. It's a way of pressurizing the oil system after an oil change. Years ago some race car builders used to recommend an Accusump oil system. https://www.cantonracingproducts.com/accusump

I suppose for a Ford 5.4 with phaser issues it would help too.
