After driving a 124 300TD for a day, I swapped the last of my 123 300TDs
  (I drove 123 300TDs for more than 7 years) for a 124 300TD and have
NEVER regretted it. The 124 wagon is a MUCH nicer car (more efficient,
much nicer ride, faster, more refined in every way). The 124 requires
much less maintenance, but when maintenance is required, it's likely to
be a little to a lot MORE expensive - especially to the AC system.
