After breakfast yesterday morning we stopped at the cheap fuel station and tanked up the 190D. Going home we hit
the highway, I heard a thump and then started smelling diesel fuel. The gauge wasn't moving appreciably so I didn't
worry about it. We went to the movies, when we came out there was a wet spot under the car. Looking around I
noticed there was a wet draintube. Thats when I checked and sure enough, no fuel cap...

  So thinking back I put the fuel nozzle back on the pump and fought with it to get a receipt, then got back in the
car and drove off. The thump was the fuel door closing as we got up to highway speed. The smell is from the fuel
sloshing out. I headed back to the gas station and the dude had the cap in hand as I approached.

  Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug, some days you swat yourself.
